BOTOX® Cosmetic Isn’t Just for Women

BOTOX® Cosmetic

One of the most common misconceptions about cosmetic procedures is that they are only designed for women. This statement couldn’t be more false. The market for men’s cosmetic enhancements is growing rapidly, and a good majority of that is for procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic.

Forget Stereotypes

It shouldn’t be surprising that men care just as much about their physical appearance as women do. When it comes to wanting to look our best and put off the physical effects of aging, there is no difference between the sexes. And yet, there is still the ridiculous stereotype that undergoing a cosmetic procedure is somehow a “feminine” thing to do. Men of all ages and from all walks of life are increasingly seeing the benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic and are becoming less shy when it comes to talking about it.

What Is BOTOX® Cosmetic?

BOTOX® Cosmetic works in the same way for men as it does for women. It is an injectable treatment that is proven to smooth out crow’s feet, wrinkles on the forehead, and frown lines between the brows to result in a more youthful appearance. This FDA-approved injectable is derived from botulinum toxin and works by temporarily paralyzing small muscles under the skin. While this sounds drastic and invasive, it’s not. All it means is that the muscles in your upper face will remain relaxed so that the tension that creates wrinkles cannot form. Results from BOTOX® Cosmetic typically last around three months. However, they may last longer in some patients, and the treatment can be repeated as desired. There is no downtime or recovery period, and complications are rare.

How Can Men Benefit?

The skin on the upper face is noticeably thin and delicate. This is unfortunate, as it gets more wear and tear than any other skin on the face. Movement weakens the skin, and constant movement will affect it even more rapidly. With every facial expression, the muscles in your forehead contract and relax, your eyes blink constantly, and most people tend to squint when reading or looking at something far in the distance. All of these movements weaken the thin skin around the eyes and contribute to the formation of wrinkles. Additional factors, such as sun exposure, lifestyle choices (like smoking), genetics, and good old-fashioned aging, also enhance the lines and wrinkles around the eyes. With so much working against the youthful qualities of your face, why not consider BOTOX® Cosmetic?
